Virtual Wind Farm™

Virtual Wind Farm™ is our way of answering the key questions you might have about a proposed site. By combining our Geographic Information Systems (GIS) skills with WindScape® output and other wind resource assessment tools we can help you understand:

  • The wind resource. Wind maps, wind roses and time series are provided.
  • The approximate capacity and capacity factor of the site. We perform turbine layouts that help you understand where turbines will likely be placed and how much they are predicted to yield. This helps you get your economic modelling on track early as well as communicate clearly with key stakeholders.
  • Key planning risks. Our maps include buildings and noise exclusions as well as visual impact.
  • Construction risk. We examine terrain gradients, landing areas and other engineering parameters that critically affect the feasibility of the project.
  • Who to talk to. Our GIS and landowner database allow early contact by your personnel and/or Windlab to initiate key relationships with landowners and other stakeholders at the earliest possible time. We also identify nearby reserves and indigenous sites, significantly reducing these risks early in the development process.
